EPGE Welcomes New Assistant Professor Raul Riva

Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE) is pleased to announce the addition of Raul Riva as an Assistant Professor, starting in the second semester of 2025. Specializing in Finance, his research focuses on asset pricing, machine learning applied to econometrics, and macro-finance, with a particular emphasis on how macroeconomic variables and shocks influence the dynamics of the U.S. yield curve.

Raul Riva is completing his PhD in Finance at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. His work has been published in the Journal of Econometrics and has received awards such as the Bates-White Prize for the Best Paper at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Financial Econometrics (SoFiE).

“I am thrilled to join FGV EPGE. This is home. I got my undergraduate and masters degrees here, so this is the place that made me an Economist. I am excited to get to work with people I’ve admired for so long. Oh, and very excited to be in Rio once again!”

EPGE strengthens its faculty and the field of Finance at the School. Raul will contribute to both undergraduate and graduate programs, enriching students’ education and leading new research initiatives.
