Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance Luigi Zingales presented the paper "A New Capital Regulation for Large Financial Institutions" on the first day of the Conference Advances in Macroeconomics at the headquarters of FGV in Rio de Janeiro. The paper, written with Oliver Hart, Harvard, proposes a new regulatory model for large financial institutions.
In addition to EPGE representatives, with the presence of the Minister Joao Paulo dos Reis Velloso, executives from BRAM (Bradesco Asset Management - sponsor of the event), Vale, Central Bank and UTE Norte Fluminense, board members and officers from other units also attended the lecture.
The Dean of the Getulio Vargas Foundation Graduate School of Economics, Rubens Penha Cysne, believes that "the EPGE's anniversary is a great opportunity to bring big names to Brazil to discuss global economy." This year the school celebrates its 50th anniversary by holding a series of international conferences. In March, EPGE brought the economist Raghuram Rajan and the Minister Jin Liqun to discuss the Chinese economy.
The Conference Advances in Macroeconomics took place from 26 to 28 of May at the auditorium Engenheiro Manoel Fernando Thompson Motta.
