EPGE students

As a pioneering institution established in 1961, the Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE) has been at the forefront of economics education and research in Brazil and Latin America. Over the decades, EPGE has shaped the careers of many of the country's leading economists, policymakers, and business leaders, and has cultivated a strong presence in both the public and private sectors, nationally and internationally.

  • (Tilburg Index): Ranked first in Latin America following the Tilburg Ranking of Departments of Economics based on evaluations conducted since 2010
  • (REPEC): Ranks first in the REPEC Index of Economics Courses in Brazil
  • (IGC): Ranked first in 9 out of the 15 times in which the National Secretary of Education (MEC) evaluated the Brazilian Institutions of Higher Education
  • (ENADE): Ranked first in 4 out of the 6 times in which the National Secretary of Education (MEC) conducted the National Student Performance Exam (ENADE) in Economics
  • (CPC): Ranks first, out of 9891 higher education courses evaluated by the Secretary of Education (MEC), in the CPC index
  • Maximum rating by Capes in all Master's and Doctoral Programs

Nobel Lectures and Faculty Exchange

EPGE periodically receives visits from highly distinguished professors and researchers in the field of economics. Since 2010, more than 500 professors at the best economics departments around the world have visited EPGE, including 12 visits by seven Nobel Prize-winning economists: Robert Engle, Christopher Sims, James Heckman, Edward Prescott, Robert Lucas Jr., Eric Maskin and John Nash. During the pandemic, another Nobel Prize-winning economist, Jean Tirole, also spoke at an online EPGE seminar.

International Recognition
