I come from Portugal, from Nova SBE, and I can say that I have had an incredible experience at EPGE. From the beginning, all the professors welcomed us very well and were willing to help us with any difficulties. One of the reasons that made me choose Brazil for the exchange, specifically FGV, was precisely these differences in the economics course. The foundations are the same, but here we end up studying the economy of a country completely different from ours and from most European countries. It has been very interesting to discover these differences and learn economics from various perspectives, both in the classroom context, with the help of the professors, and in day-to-day conversations with colleagues.

I come from the universidad Carlos III de Madrid. And here I study at EPGE at the University of Economics. It was really fortunate to come here because the quality of the students is very high, there are very good students at FGV and the faculty is also wonderful. As it is a small university it is very easy to meet new people, the university helps a lot the students in the academic field as well because it gives a lot of opportunity to talk with faculty and learn. It is totally recommended without a doubt, if you want to choose Rio de janeiro, choose FGV.

The Buddy Program is the program that FGV provided us to enhance our entire exchange experience here in Rio de Janeiro, as it is a completely different city in a completely different country, where we have to adapt to everything, whether it's the daily life, the culture, or the safety norms we are not used to. I can say that this program helped me a lot. This program basically puts us in contact with a student from FGV EPGE who helps us in various situations. For example, what was most important to me happened a few weeks before coming here. I needed to choose my courses and required assistance in knowing which ones were recommended, which were the easiest, and other recommendations. This is exactly what I was able to obtain. He helped me a lot in knowing which courses to choose, which greatly improved my experience here in Rio de Janeiro and at FGV.

I chose Rio also because it is the wonderful city. The language is quite similar to my home country. I found it extraordinary to combine the same language with a culture that I thought was similar to Portuguese but discovered to be quite different in many aspects. Access to the university is greatly facilitated by the support we receive from the Pedagogical Council and from other EPGE colleagues and students. Additionally, I believe any exchange student seeks a bit of fun, and Rio provides that every day. I recommend that exchange students integrate into the academic environment, especially with the Athletic Association, which organizes sports activities and parties. I had a great experience; I formed a soccer team with Brazilian and Portuguese friends, and I believe these friendships will last a lifetime, always remembering fantastic moments. To conclude, EPGE is not an easy school, so one must continuously apply oneself throughout the semester and not neglect studying.
